EBC is a high-end brake manufacturer with a factory in England. Quality is paramount for their products, and both brake pads and discs undergo strict control and numerous tests.
EBC Brake Pads come in many variants. EBC works with everything from replacement OEM brakes to upgrade brakes that are only for track use. To find the right brakes for your car, it’s about looking at your needs, car, and driving style. Below we have briefly outlined what you should choose the different brake pads based on:
Ultimax Brake Pads: Everyday car where the desire is to get high quality with less dust.
Greenstuff Brake Pads: Smaller performance cars / tuners, if you need more braking power, less dust, better pedal feel.
Redstuff Brake Pads: For slightly larger performance cars / sports cars, increased braking power, less dust.
Yellowstuff Brake Pads: For tuners / sports cars with high braking power, suitable for track days as well as street use.
The perfect brake pad for the everyday car. The brake pads are made from environmentally friendly materials and are ECE R90 safety approved.
The brake pads contain no metallic elements, making cleaning significantly easier as they do not dust as much as OEM and the dust is easier to remove because it does not burn in the same way.
Advantages compared to OEM brake pads:
Suitable for: Everyday cars
Dust level: Low
Greenstuff is produced as an “entry level” upgrade/sports brake pad for cars at the lighter end of the scale, e.g., hot hatches – Polo, Fiesta, etc.
Unlike regular brake pads, Greenstuff is made from softer material, providing better brake feel / pedal feel at lower speeds.
The softer material gives significantly longer life to both discs and pads. The brake pads are ECE R90 approved.
Advantages compared to OEM brake pads:
Suitable for: Lightweight cars wanting better braking performance – perfect for “Hot Hatches”
Dust level: Medium
EBC’s flagship brake pad, designed for prestige cars with 200+ HP. With few exceptions, Redstuff is fully legal in the EU and ECE R90 approved.
Redstuff is a performance brake pad designed to handle multiple hard stops without losing braking power and with minimal disc wear.
In addition to being a performance brake pad, Redstuff does not dust much. Therefore, Redstuff is perfect for cars that need to be kept clean with minimal effort.
In a test by the UK Motor Industries Research Association, Redstuff brake pads performed up to 30% better than OEM on the same car in some tests.
Advantages compared to OEM brake pads:
Suitable for: Medium – Large sedans and station wagons. – NOT for SUVs / Trucks
Dust level: Low
Yellowstuff is EBC’s Premium Fast Road Brake pad – Designed to work in both low and high temperatures. Yellowstuff is the ultimate solution for cars that drive on the road and need to deliver maximum performance under hard braking for track days. The brake pads provide bite from the start and do not need to be warmed up like many other performance brakes, making them ideal for street cars that occasionally do track days.
The keyword for Yellowstuff is Performance, suitable for both large and small cars. If it’s about coming first, Yellowstuff is the right choice.
Yellowstuff is ECE R90 approved
Advantages compared to OEM brake pads:
Suitable for: All cars – Performance pads where high braking performance is required
Dust level: Medium-High
EBC Bluestuff is designed for “Mid-level” Trackday / club level racing, with a few selected brake pads having ECE R90 approval.
Bluestuff is built to handle high friction without failing and with the aim of delivering maximum performance on track driving. The choice of material for Bluestuff makes the pads more gentle on discs and therefore can run longer on the discs.
The brake pads dust a lot and make more noise than, for example, Yellowstuff. The purpose of Bluestuff is track driving and maximum performance.
Advantages:
Suitable for: Trackday / club level racing cars
Dust level: HIGH
NOTE – NOT Approved for road use – ONLY for track use
Brand new series of brake pads from EBC designed for track driving and track days. Characteristic of Orangestuff is the deep “V” groove in the pad, which helps to ventilate, capture dirt and debris from the track.
Orangestuff will NOT receive ECE R90 approval and is intended for pure track use.
Bluestuff and Orangestuff share the same technology for brake pad composition, making them three times as strong as their regular street brake pads.
Instructions from EBC before use:
“Orangestuff pads are pre-scorched which means that are already bedded in compared to the ordinary pad but we advise that a minimal bedding procedure is done to marry the pad to the disc.
Two laps at intermediate speed is advised, followed by a further two using heavier braking.”
