BBS celebrates their 50th anniversary in 2020. The company was founded in 1970 by Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand with a small production company that made plastic parts for the automotive industry in Schiltach, hence the name Baumgartner Brand Schiltach = BBS. Three years after the company's establishment, Heinrich Baumgartner developed and produced a new 3-piece split rim for motorsport. Within a few years, BBS became synonymous with lightweight motorsport rims made of aluminum.
Five decades later, in 2020, 50 years of innovation while staying true to its vision "Technology from Motorsport" with many innovative solutions, legendary rim designs such as the LM, RS, and CH-R rims, the latest innovation being the patented stainless steel ring on the rim edge that is replaceable if you are unlucky enough to damage the rim edge.
To celebrate the anniversary, a special production of 4 rims in a limited edition in a unique and special "Satin Bronze" color has been made, along with a special center cap in matching color with the wording "BBS EST. 1970". The following rims are available in the 50th anniversary edition: FI-R from the Forged Line, CH-R II and CI-R from the Performance Line, and the XR model from the Design Line.
